we caught 5 Cod to 6 pound,7 thornback ray, 250 whiting,50dabs,and 40 doggies, simon moved 3 times to get us fish .The most productive area seemed to be when we anchored off the fort at Perch Rock. Newbrighton. First blues appeared after about4 hours drifting and we hooked into 4 over the next couple of hours, to 5ft - didnt bother weighing in, great sport tho. Fished 3 hrs up to high tide, then 1 hr down. Report:Fished on board the Warrior for the first of the River Cod Trips that are booked, with a few spots tried out, the fishing was in general slow, we did manage Whiting and 1 Codling aboard the boat, however Dave W lost what could have been the catch of the year !!! Most on board were soon adding Bullhuss to their species list
we went to anglesey bait centre for some lug etc just after eight but it was shut (much to my dissapointment). We managed to find the last places on the Marina car park and loaded our gear onto the barrows for the short walk to the floating pontoons. Report:launched from royal (cleveleys)about 9am fished cleveleys outfall nothing,moved to rossall pipe 2nd perch nothing, moved to end,nothing moved to the school about 1/2 mile off nothing! quite a few codling around but only few whiting. Had a few more drifts later then went to the rough ground Yippee!!!!! Red and yellow beads made a massive difference, I fished the first half hour without a touch, replaced the rig with a beaded one and none stop, fish a drop. We headed out for the second part of the day as the tide changed to a mark around 5 miles out. The man setting the pace in the early stages was Roy Schofield who took three nice Codling in the first half of the match with the best of them measuring 49cm. Thanks to Simon for his help and tuition to the novices on his boat. Plenty other boats out all reporting similar catches. All to soon it was time for the return Journey back to Port and time to pack up and clean down. Great days fishing and I would recomend getting a trip out on Sally with skipper Jeff, great guy nice boat A 1 fishing only problem Jeff can't make coffee and his jokes may cause a mutiny like the one when he landed a couple of haddock when cleaning them out he found 2 needles in them he had to through them back as he can't stand drug haddocks or you should never triffel with jelly fish. Anyway after a couple of hours Tickling Rays and admiring Seals swimming upside down through the underwater viewing tank we returned to our comfortable digs at the Warwick. so at least merseys fishing better than there for codling. Sea Fishing At Bridlington Shore angling at Bridlington is not sparkling and it tends to be limited to fishing from the … Weather was good but the sea was a tad choppy.
